Charles Chastek of Litchfield is in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center after a broadside collision Monday.

Chastek, 35, was seriously injured when his 1996 Honda motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 55 and Stearns County Road 181, just southeast of Paynesville, the Minnesota State Patrol reports.

The accident happened around noon Monday when Alyce Drimel, 73, of Paynesville, who was traveling south on County Road 181, pulled out on Highway 55 in front of Chastek's motorcycle, according to the State Patrol.

Chastek, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Paynesville Hospital with head injuries before being airlifted to HCMC. Drimel was not injured.

The Paynesville Police Department and Stearns County Sheriff's Office assisted.
