A Dassel woman died Thursday in a two-vehicle accident on the east edge of Litchfield.

The accident happened at 2:07 p.m. at the intersection on County State Aid Highway 34 and East Ripley Street.

Helen Bourgeois, 76, was driving a 1995 Buick east on East Ripley Street when she collided with a 2001 Kia, driven by Heather Humble, 22, of Litchfield, while crossing CSAH 34. Humble was traveling south on CSAH 34.

Bourgeois was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Meeker County Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to Litchfield Police Chief Pat Fank. Humble was also transported to MCMH where she was treated and released.

The Litchfield Police Department is investigating the accident.

Assisting agencies were Litchfield Fire and Rescue, Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Department of Natural Resources Conservation officers.
