One of the most-viewed films in history will be highlighted this fall during The Nelson Farm’s annual Pumpkin Patch Festival, which runs weekends Sept. 29 through Oct. 28.

“The Wizard of Oz” is the theme of the farm’s cornfield maze, where visitors can search for Dorothy’s ruby red slippers, the Tin Man’s heart, the Scarecrow’s brains, the Lion’s courage and other items.

“The Wizard of Oz” theme will not stop at the end of the cornfield’s rows, however, as local theatrical talent will perform a stage version of the show at 3 p.m. each day of the Pumpkin Patch Festival.

Other festival activities include: swinging in the hay loft, cruising down a 40-foot slide, panning for marbles, playing in a tree fort, petting and playing with small farm animals, playing farm miniature golf and corn cob golf, soap box derby races and farm Frisbee golf.

Cost for a full day of activities at The Nelson Farm is $6.50 per person. Season passes are available for $12 per person.
