Slinden second in state discus

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City's Liberty Slinden finished second in discus at the Class A state track and field meet June 6 at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Slinden posted a throw of 136 feet, 3 inches in the event.

Eden-Valley-Watkins/Kimball's Courtney Nistler placed sixth in the discus (127-7).

EV-W/K junior Justine Hilsgen placed 11th in the 3,200 meters with a time of 12 minutes, 0.94 seconds.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City's Justin Hanson qualified for the finals in the 110-meter high hurdles.

The finals of the Class A state meet get under way at 3 p.m. June 7 in St. Paul.
