    American history students at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City High School listened to Civil War re-enactors Dave Penkert and Bruce Nelson describe life for a Civil War soldier Friday.     Customers lock in a stamp that lasts forever
    Postal customers can buy the Forever Stamp for 41 cents through Sunday, which can be used for mailing one-ounce, First-Class letters anytime in the future — regardless of future price changes. However, on Monday, the cost of the Forever Stamp and other first-class postage will increase by 1 cent, from 41 cents to 42 cents. Read more by clicking here.

For old time's sake

Walk down the sidewalks of Litchfield’s downtown and the city’s history looms large. Many of the historic buildings that frame the city’s main street were built as early as the 1800s.

More than 100 years later, the city’s downtown was designated a Historic Commercial District by the National Park Service and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.


Welcome home, 849th MAC

The Minnesota National Guard 849th Mobility Augmentation Co. returned to Litchfield April 30 after an 11-month deployment with Operation Iraqi Freedom. Nearly 100 soldiers were dismissed to the waiting arms of family and friends after the brief Welcome Home ceremony. View a slideshow of the event here.
