Monday is Columbus Day and some government offices will be closed in commemoration of the day.
Federal offices and post offices will be closed, as well as Litchfield City Hall.
The Litchfield Planning Commission meeting has been moved to Tuesday.
Some banks also observe Columbus Day.
State and Meeker County offices will be open. Litchfield Public Library also will be open.
Students will be in session at area schools. The Litchfield School Board will meet at its regularly scheduled time, 7:30 p.m.
Columbus Day was set aside to celebrate Christopher Columbus’ first voyage to the Americas in 1492. It became a holiday in 1937 and has been commemorated on the second Monday in October since 1971.
