Welcome home ceremony planned for Guard soldiers
July 9, 2008 - 4:08pm — Kristin Holtz
A homecoming ceremony for Minnesota National Guard soldiers of the 849th Mobility Augmentation Co. will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Civic Arena. Minnesota Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau and Minnesota National Guard Adjutant Gen. Larry Shellito are scheduled to speak, as well as 682nd Engineer Battalion commander Lt. Col. Daniel Hoben and company commander Capt. Jeff Smith. Following the event, soldiers will participate in the Watercade Grande Day Parade, which starts at 6 p.m. Ninety-four soldiers of the 849th MAC, based in Litchfield, returned home in April after serving 11 months in Iraq as a security detail. The homecoming event is open to the public.
