An SUV struck a 14-year-old boy who was chasing a toy that had gone into the street Tuesday.

The Litchfield teen had minor injuries, including some abrasions, according to the Litchfield Police Department. The accident happened around 11 a.m. on Fifth Street East.

Litchfield Police do not know who was driving the SUV but are not considering it a hit-and-run since the driver did stop and talk with the teen, Sgt. Gary Gruenke said. Once the boy indicated he was OK, the driver left.

The boy was not OK he had to...

The boy was not OK he had to go to the hospital. A word to drivers "You can not ask a person who has been injured if they are OK especially a child. They will automatically say yes out of fear, embarrassment or shock." He has many abrasions, his chest needs to be taped and he has some muscle pain. He will be OK in time but needed attention on the spot. This driver was probably also in a bit of denial and out of fear or embarrassment left with out actually looking at the child. One tip off should have been all the blood.

So it worries me that no effort was put into finding the driver. How will this person know that it is not acceptable to hit someone and leave. So if anyone knows who the driver is please pass on to them that this boy should have been cared for. His parents should have been contacted so they could have at least came home and taken him to the doctor, instead he had to make it into the house alone and then realize he was hurt and needed help.
