Area churches plan Kids Against Hunger food packaging event

Several area churches will cooperate in a Kids Against Hunger food packaging event at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Litchfield.

Kids Against Hunger helps provide nutritious meals to hungry children around the world.

Volunteers from St. Philip’s, Church of Our Lady in Manannah, Litchfield Methodist Church, St. John’s Church of Darwin, St. Gertrude’s of Forest City, Gethsemane Lutheran of Dassel and Immanuel Lutheran of Litchfield will package food from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 in the St. Philip’s social hall. To sign up to work a two-hour shift, call (320) 693-3313.

The local Kids Against Hunger committee has set a goal of packaging 50,000 to 60,000 meals and raising $7,500 to $9,000. Funds raised will cover the cost of ingredients, which is 15 cents per meal. All of the money raised is used to purchase food. Donations can be sent to Kids Against Hunger, St. Philip’s Church, 306 Holcombe Ave. N., Litchfield, MN 55355.
