The state needs to start requiring drivers tests for anyone over 70. I have nearly been turned into a greasy splotch by three separate 70+ year old drivers in three days. Without looking the first turned in front of me broadside while I was going 55 mph. The next one pulled out in front of me without looking and forced me to slam on the breaks while I was going 55 and then proceed to drive 30 down Highway 12. The last one was driving in the wrong lane and almost hit me in a head on.
I realize not all older drivers are this bad, but for the love of god man, at least test all of them. Look at the restrictions we put on younger drivers in the last ten years... Younger drivers don't scare me near as much as these old people who are far more dangerous than a drunk driver.
A couple other examples, the old Litchfield Mcdonalds had a 90+ year old drive INTO the building while parking. Yesterday an 88 year old in Chippewa county Wisconsin drove through a fence and into and into an in progress football game. Last year in Atwater a BNSF railroad worker lost his leg when an 85 year old woman ran through barricades and hit him while he was working on the crossing. She claimed not to have felt her car crush the barricades...
How many of us have to die before the state stops kissing the AARP lobbyists butts, and starts caring about all the citizens who drive on our roads.

About time someone tells it...
Back to page topAbout time someone tells it how it is . . The drivers out there that are of older age need to be watched and at some point need to be taken off the road. The saying goes "They might not get INTO The accident, but they sure do CAUSE them! "

Back to page topA few weeks ago while at wal mart on our way to our car with our cart we saw this woman drive into a yellow concret barrier. she hit it good enough to dent her fender. she and her friend looked and laughed found it amusing she had hit that instead of another car that this woman has done before. My husband and I were floored. the woman my husband knew was over 75 and wasnt wearing her glasses.
when I was 19 and my car was being used by my brother, my grandmother's boyfriend who was 78 came to pick me up with my grandma. I was outside waiting for them and he took the wrong turn and drove up on the side walk and nearly hit me and three other people. His excuse was he did not see us because of the heavy rainfall.... which was mere sprinkles. I refused to get into that vehical and told grandma I thought she should wait with me as a friend came to pick me up. when I came home I found I was smart not to of gotten into that car as the guy drove into my parents bricked light post. No one was hurt thankfully but still. He finally got his license taken when he failed the eye examination.
