A day in my life...

I am going to try to do a little more blogging, and I hope you don't mind my ramblings. It is another Friday and of course I have plenty to do. As far as work goes, it is tearsheet day for me. That is when we go through the Sunday editions and tear out advertisements for customers who would like to see them before the public gets their copies, some hang them up in their stores or use them for other reasons. This time of year is also busy because we have several special editions/sections that we are preparing for. Many of these are designed to help our customers reach their customers at this critical time of the year.
On more of a personal note, I am preparing to show senior picture proofs to my cousin and daughter tomorrow. I had taken them a few weeks ago and now have them ready for her. I am hoping that she likes them.
Soon I will have to get some Christmas shopping done, but that is usually a late thing for me to do. Maybe I will be on top of it better this year. More on that later.
I would welcome any comments or discussions in this blog as well, so feel free to do so. It will be mostly rambling, but a good way for me to interact with the community I am working in today.

Wonderful to hear you have a job. Maybe it's boring but I bet not as boring as looking for one. Even better to hear is involves advertizing because that indicates there are still businesses out there to advertize. Nice you could take graducation pictures for someone. There are many kids who will not get them this year. Trade off would be food or electricty or heat for their homes, if they have one. Glad you can go Christmas shopping. Maybe you could get a moment to go over to Heartland and donate to the Christmas Project so that someone else might be able to buy a present for their family. And while you are there go next door to the Food Shelf and donate the cost of a meal. You could give your family a little card that says "Please Donate the cost of whatever you were going to give me for Christmas to the food shelf".

Just thought I would share the day in the life of many people right here in the town you are in.

May you have a wonderful career, home, and life.

Thank you for the comment, it's much more fun to converse than just ramble. However, I am sorry if I gave you the impression that my job was boring. It is usually anything but. Deadlines, and ads changing all the time. Watching businesses grow and change is quite exciting. I have also seen many business close, which is not what I like to see(it hurts me and our business as well as the town, workers etc.). I like to view what I do as helping businesses succeed. I pride myself on making sure that the ads that I help with, are effective and get them results(like increased sales).
I do enjoy taking pictures for my family and friends as many of them (like you said),would not have been able to afford the expensive packages that many professionals charge. Although, I can't blame them either as they have families to feed as well. They are after all in business to support their families just like the local grocery store, gas station, etc. I do know how difficult their work is first hand, and I also know that for many of them it is not just a career but their passion and it is very expensive to buy the equipment required to own a studio. Photography is a passion of mine, but I do not have the means to purchase the same equipment, so I do the best I can with what I have to use for my family and friends.
I also hope that many others will take your advice and donate this holiday season if they can.

Sorry I did not want you to feel like I was putting you down. Just things are not the greatest this holiday season. I being the perpetual crumudgon and all. It is nice you can help friends and family. I once said the only sign I never wanted to see in town was "Going out of business". That is still true. I think about the Great Depression and what it was like in Litchfield. We will have to brush up on things they did to make it through. While social settings and norms have changed some of the ideas will still work. We need to be sure everyone eats, children get a Christmas present, Santa still comes to the park, the lights shine for the hoilday evenings, and we always can help. Even when we do not have much we can find a way to give something. People can shovel an eldery persons walk for free, go visit a shut in, run an errand, make some one a meal, give a toy to tots, give a donation to the food shelf, donate a blanket or coat, tell a child a story, help someone know how to live on less, tell a person about harder times and what you did. I think each and everyone has something to give and sometimes the gratest gife only costs a little piece of your heart (it's renewable energy).

Have a wonderful season and to all a good cheer. Yes cheer from this old crumudgon.
