The Kansas City Chiefs appear willing to deal all-pro defensive end Jared Allen prior to the NFL Draft and the Minnesota Vikings are rumored to be interested in making a trade.
Allen, who has averaged 58 tackles, 11 sacks and four forced fumbles in his first three seasons, would give Minnesota the edge pass rusher they've lacked since the days of Chris Doleman.
Allen was suspended for the first two games of last season for a pair of DUI arrests, so he would come with some baggage.
Minnesota would have to trade at least a first-round draft pick to get a player like Allen, but unless the asking price is too steep, I doubt the Vikings get a player of Allen's ability at pick No. 17.
*Jose Theodore stole the show and perhaps the series with his 38-save effort in Colorado's 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild Thursday night.
Theodore faced 31 shots on goal in the first two periods and allowed only a power-play goal by Pierre-Marc Bouchard.
His counterpart in net, Niklas Backstrom, was not as sharp. He allowed three goals on just 17 shots.
Considering how much of the game Minnesota dominated, it had to be disheartening to lose the way they did.
Theodore has outplayed Backstrom so far in this series and unless that changes in Games 6 and 7, the Wild are done. It's really that simple.
*It was good to get outside for some sporting events Tuesday, even if the winds were gusting close to 40 mph.
I got my first look at Litchfield's girls golf team Thursday and will have plenty to check out on Friday now that Mother Nature has relented.
